my light in darkness
the world was forever changing. ambrosia had learned to adapt, for the most part. despite blending into society, the female was forever burdened by her differences. san francisco was nice, but not nearly as beautiful as her home. it sickened the girl, thinking back to the place she knew best. there was no place on earth that could ever compare to greece. the culture, the people, the experiences... she missed every inch of it. having been chased from the lands where she grew, ambrosia had been left with an emptiness. like a black hole in the pit of her soul, slowly consuming her little by little. being a vampire had plenty to do with her bitterness, if not all. she was turned without a choice. artemis had taken everything from her, dimming the brightness of life. ambrosia wanted to die a human, not a monster. in all honesty, she would have much rather perished with her parents than be forced to live an eternal existence.
this new life came with consequences, punishments that would forever follow the actions of another. there was a time when ambrosia cared little for such tribulations. the girl was once at peace, completely content with the world around her. she helped people through her visions, telling them of their futures and what was yet to come. for most, her word was considered sacred. they traveled from all around, claiming that ambrosia possessed godly powers, much like the pythia before her. the female was worshiped in many ways, mostly by those who admired her gifts. to ambrosia, however, fame and fortune meant nothing. most of the coin and gold presented to her was used in ways that benefited others. she gave quite a generous amount to her parents, so that they may continue to live off of their farmland, rather than suffering from harsh winters. that was the whole point in becoming an oracle: to help her people.
for the longest time, her life was spent on the run. not from anyone in particular, aside from artemis auric. ambrosia never truly did accept her fate, though who would? humanity was taken away from her entirely, stripped of those morals. good and bad seemed to mix, slaughtering humans where they stood. using every ounce of willpower she possessed, ambrosia struggled to set herself back onto the right course. she refused to kill innocents, to base her own survival on the precious lives of others. it took everything within the female, but she eventually grew used to the portioning, taking only what she needed. it wasn't long after her transformation that she had been captured, forced to comply with some arrogant asshole. there was no doubt in the girl's mind that he was working for the auric's, having sent knox to return the prize they previously lost. of course, ambrosia put up a fight in the beginning, forever bickering back and forth. she tried escaping on multiple accounts, all of which were failed attempts. like a sick game of cat and mouse, knox always managed to catch up. the female had finally met her match, one individual that could out-smart her. knox's true advantage? for whatever reason, ambrosia couldn't read him. his future happened to be the only one that she could not see.
moving through the grass, ambrosia took a seat upon one of the park benches. brown orbs scanned the surrounding fields, catching sight of an individual every now and again. it was a peaceful day, yet the girl was unable to focus completely. she had grown restless, sleep disturbed by nightmarish visions. her gifts were being used by the council for their own benefit, and she was to blame. ambrosia wasn't proud of what she had done, siding with the very race she hated. however, at the time, she saw no other options. it was a quick decision made on the spot, for she knew the consequences of her running away. artemis and atticus never wanted to kill the girl, it was in their best interest to keep her alive, to use her seer abilities. though, her position wasn't all bad. ambrosia's mind managed to clear over time, opening up to see the possibilities. despite no longer being free, she continued to get her way. those who sought justice were often brought to her, in order to see their hidden intentions. if they spoke the truth, they had a slight chance of freedom, depending on the crimes committed. punishments were given fairly, for the most part. ambrosia may have abused her authority to get rid of convicted vampires, more times than not. but that was her right, wasn't it?
