Many say that our fiction and what is created from our imaginations is just an extension of our subconscious mind. Have you ever wondered if all those stories of things that go bump in the night hold any truth? Oh my dear, those stories are very, very real.
Thousands of years ago it began, when man first began to walk the earth. Plague swept through a small village, killing off thousands silently. Those who stood a chance, immune to this strange disease, took to the streets in search for something to thrive off of. Looting and panic had left fields barren and food nonexistent; the toxins of the plague had left water undrinkable. The ones who hadn’t died of the plague, surely died of starvation.
Except for a few. Gritting their teeth, the small faction of survivors took to consuming their dead loved ones, like cannibals. The thirst was quenched from the blood of the dead, while the hunger was sated from the poisoned flesh. The devil smiled upon these desperate beings from his throne in hell, choosing to bind their actions to them forever. From the blood-drinkers came the first vampires, bound to the night as they drained all the bodies in their sight. And from the flesh-eaters came the first werewolves, bound to the moonlight as they consumed bone and flesh underneath it.
Immortally, these few survivors grew into their new supernatural lives. What started off as a handful of vampire and werewolves eventually grew into hundreds and then thousands. Initially an alliance bound them together but eventually, primal instincts and species-related incidents pushed them apart, putting war upon their shoulders.
Today, all sorts of things exist unbeknownst to the mortals of this world. Many live in harmony with their lesser counterparts, existing in some sort of parallel. But peace may not last forever as factions start to lose followers and loyalty and additionally, as crime and hunger mounts amount these supernaturals.
Most just want to watch you bleed.
