SHADOWS REMAIN IN THE LIGHT OF THE DAY,
ON THE WINGS OF DARKNESS HE'LL RETALIATE;

Life at the hotel seemed to have calmed down. Nothing too crazy had been happening, not that Valarie had noticed at least. She had been preoccupied in trying to have more events at the hotel and trying to get those pesky buyers out of her hair. She was very aware that the hotel was on grand real-estate property and the offers that kept pouring in showed it. Valarie was proud of what she had created and she didn’t want anyone to know the secrets of the hotel, she had enough speculation of that. Of course there would always be the various stories going around that the hotel held a dark secret. Stories that were of course very true.
Regardless of the dark secrets of the hotel, there was a family in it. They may not all be related by blood, but there certainly was a family in the hotel. Valarie often took in people who had lost their way or people who had lost everything else. Motherly was a word that could be used to describe the vampire. She may not be as powerful as some had been, but she was certainly powerful enough to have control of a few of a few covens, packs and other things among the supernatural world. If a war was brewing, then she certainly would be ready. She was even getting close to having hunters on her side. Valarie liked to pride herself in the fact that she could get what she wanted and was a very… influential person shall we say?
As far as her staff went, Valarie didn’t normally have much to do with them unless there was a problem that she could solve. Whether the problem was personal or work related, Valarie always did her best to have it resolved. She didn’t want her employees to think she was a cold, hard bitch. True, she wore that like a diamond, but she was truly a genuine and caring woman. She would look out for her own and she would kill for a few of her staff members.
As she pinned her platinum hair up and looked at herself in the mirror, Valarie reached over and pulled out a tube of ruby red lipstick and delicately put it on her pale lips. Her liner was thick, her lashes were long and her brows were defined. It was that time of the month again where she and James would have dinner to discuss the hotel amongst other things. Her hair was almost slicked back into a low bun with a couple of pins holding it place. With the help of one of her maids, she was soon fitted into a stunning black number. Silk clung to her upper body as the skirt flowed beneath her. Her breasts were only covered enough and the back of the dress dipped so low you’d think it would fall off. “Thank you Catherine,” she practically purred as she kissed her maid on the cheek. A teardrop diamond necklace decorated her collarbone and neck while the matching earrings dangled from her earlobes.
Heel clicked against the marble floor as she walked into the restaurant area of the hotel and up to the more secluded booth. She gave the waiter a brief smile as she sat down across from James. Her eyes looked up to meet his. They stayed in the same hotel, co-owned it and yet she rarely saw him.
“Darling,” she offered a smile as she looked at him, “It’s been far too long. We must do this more than once a month.” She gave a small smile to the man across from her, “And if we do, it mustn’t be a business meeting, like tonight.” Valarie did her best to keep him updated on sales, offers and new staff. Tonight though, she had hoped that tonight would simply be two good friends having a meal and maybe a little side of O Negative for her.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
