Careen, Meeting, ATHENA KNIGHT lyrics @ Lana Del Rey. notes – words - 750ish
In the Land of Gods and Monsters I was an Angel
All of his wives were not but distractions for Cole, they were poisoning his mind making him believe that he truly loved them. Those women were nothing like Careen, she actually knew him all her life, when those whores only knew him for the moment. Careen didn’t like Cole’s wives, so she killed them all, after they signed over all their inheritances to their name, so when they died they would easily be forgotten as someone with the Ukraine last name. Cole knew that she was killing his wives because who else would be? One by one they would get mysteriously sick, and a few days later they would be found dead in their beds. Neither Careen nor Cole really spoke of it because it’s not something they could really speak on without one being angry with the other. The twins love each other too much to hate each other, Careen really loves her brother and she will do anything to make him happy. Although, she believes that him staying with her will make him happy forever, which confuses her when he wants to be away from her or go adventuring in a town we have seen a thousand times over.
Careen stood silently in the kitchen as she was beginning to fix supper for her and her brother. She waited for the gas pipe to heat up and allow a blaze to catch under the pot she used before throwing her ingredients inside. The twin sister wore a silky white robe that complimented her body, not really holding anything to imagination as it was only her and her brother living in the home. The halfbreed kept her pitch black hair down as it flowed like a black wave down her back. Quietly, Careen hummed to herself as she began stirring in the pot, a tune she hummed since she was a little girl living in the same house her and her brother lives in now. The song she was humming was from a lullaby her mother used to sing to her when she was trying to go to sleep, the words were dark and had an underlining message that was also dark. Although, the demon halfbreed enjoyed the tune every time she heard it, which is why she still hums it to this day, Cole could probably make it out once he hears her as she does it just that much.
Careen was happy still living in the manor, she was happy to live with her brother for eternity and not be able to leave the house without consequences. She understands the sacrifices that comes with staying away from civilization and in a place that is slowly crumbling away into nothing more than a memory. Careen thinks Cole feels the same way, but he secretly keeps that to himself and Careen knows something was wrong with her brother she just doesn’t know what it was. Things between her and her brother have been becoming cold and unsettling as of late, more specifically when he met Ms. Knight, a beautiful hellhound. Her being beautiful was enough to piss Careen off because she could see the woman coming in between her and her brother, and Careen does not like that. Cole has told her about Ms. Knight that she has abilities that could free him and her from the curse of the house, which sounds appealing, but Careen doesn’t want to leave the house, at least not by that hellhound’s power. If Careen was going to leave, she was going to leave knowing she still has her brother’s love and that the virgin they used was dead.
Careen turned off the fire that was blazing under the pot keeping what she was cooking hot, and carefully she picked up the hot handle and poured the porridge inside two bowls.Careen watched as the hot food poured like sludge into the bowl, though she immediately looked towards her peripheral vision after hearing a sound in the other room, which caused her to stop her pouring. Boldly, Careen placed the pot down and went to investigate the noise, she grabbed the skirt of her robe for her to navigate the room easily. Careen walked inside with a curious voice," Cole? Is that you?"

no one knows i lost my soul long ago for the first time in centuries, athena was a free woman. at least physically anyway. her heart and mind were very much back in her palace in hell with lucifer. and it was likely a part of them always would be. but her body was free from the pain and agony of taking lives against her will. she'd made a serious deal, one that allowed her feedom from her duties as a hellhound and lucifer's pet for ten long years. she fully intended to keep her half of the deal and return to him in a decade's time, even with the clause that if she fell in love with another, she would be free forever. she had ignored that part of the deal, choosing instead to focus upon the ten years she would have to enjoy without evil purpose. however, she'd found herself falling for one in ways she tried to deny.
cole had been a person of her thoughts for many days now and no matter how much she tried to deny it, she found some comfort in the man. she wasn't sure if it was his brokeness, the creativity he tried to stuff deep down, or the fact he was just mysterious. though she'd never conciously admit it, it had to be that he was in a simliiar situation as her. just as she was a prisoner to lucifer, tending to him without a choice of her own, cole was a prisoner to the house and his sister, slaving away for her...to keep her happy. a part of her found it honorable, that he was so dedicated to someone with so much evil within them. the other part found it sad, even something that he needed to be saved from.
athena had tried very hard to convince cole she could free him from the house, yet he didn't believe her. without truly revealing who she was, she had no choice but to let him make his own decisions. she'd even gone as far as to agreeing to help careen be free as well, but she had second thoughts about that offer. there was enough evil in the world, she wasn't sure unleashing another being was the wisest of ideas. and so, she resorted to coming by the house on occasion, checking in on the man she considered to be a new and true friend to her. sometimes, coming across careen was unavoidable. still, she remained as polite as she possibly could.
in the hellhound state that lucifer had provided to her, athena was an extremely powerful being. in fact, she was second only to the horseman and the sins. demons were at her command, meaning so too could cole and careen have been, what with their mixed demon blood. while a portion of her powers remained with her, many of them had faded away with lucifer's deal. if she was not his thing, he was not going to give her her abilities. this meant her completely immortality was out the window - the very thing that kept her safe. if only she had known that before accepting the tea of careen on more than one occasion in the past few weeks.
because of the poison, athena had felt off lately...though the exact reason why escaped her. she'd coughed up blood twice but dismissed it as effects of her long life immortality. after all, she'd been killed and injured on multiple occasions, only to remain unscathed. perhaps it was all catching up with her. that must have accounted for the weakness too. it had to...
athena knocked at the door a few times but with the size of the decaying manor, it was really no surprise to her that no one heard her. rather than turn way, she let herself in, shutting the warm sunshin behind her. a shiver ran through her spine as she meandered through the halls of the lower level, in search of the dark haired man. but as she rounded the corner into the kitchen, she failed to find him. instead, it was his sister.
rather than turn away, the demon stepped into the view of the woman, attempting to find her manners. "hello careen. i came to speak with cole if that is alright." not that she was going to accept permission from her. after all, cole was a grown man with the right to do as he pleased. and if he wanted her sent away, she'd accept that from him. "is he he-?" she posed the second question but a dizzy spell washed over her, causing her to tumble. she caught herself on the countertop, just before hitting her head. what was wrong with her? fun times template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Careen, Meeting, ATHENA KNIGHT lyrics @ Lana Del Rey. notes – words - 600ish
In the Land of Gods and Monsters I was an Angel
Careen wandered into the other room to investigate the sound of an opening door to their front door, which was rather odd as she did not hear Cole leave, if he wasn’t already gone. Matter of fact, she now knows Cole isn’t home because she does not sense him near, upstairs or downstairs, then she doesn’t even smell his scent. Now, Careen begins to wonder where her brother was off to, what he could be doing, and who he was with, if he was with someone, though Careen hopes he wasn’t with Ms. Athena Knight.
The very thought of that woman brings back memories of murder and all the sick thoughts she wishes to inflict on the elder demon, though it’s not like Careen fears Athena as she can’t. The twin sister of Cole was ill, she was psychotic, and needed to be attended to, but two-hundred years of psychotic behavior gone untreated has made Careen very, very, very unstable. The idea of Careen being treated as an ill patient would be a bad idea, so Cole and Careen believes its best for the both of them to stay in their hallowed home, at least Careen manipulates her brother into believing.
Careen’s problem with Athena was that she ruins all of that because of her beautiful face and sweet words that were just enough to pull Cole in like a bee to its honey. He was beginning to be trapped by her and wanting to be free, though Careen cannot allow and she will not allow Athena to take her brother away. Careen has been protecting Cole all of these years and she will be damned if a hellhound was going to take him away, and she was still breathing. Careen turned the corner and the scent of Ms. Knight rolled through her nose causing her to roll her eyes and breathing out a sigh of irritation, but as soon as she saw the blonde woman a smile crept upon her face as she greeted her with politeness,” Ms. Knight how do you do this fine morning? I have just finished making breakfast, you’d wish to join me-” Careen caught the mentioning of Cole and she stopped speaking about having Athena joining her for breakfast because already she was irritated.
Careen said with a fake smile,” Im afraid that will not be possible Ms. Knight, Cole is-” Careen watched as Athena staggered in a sudden dizziness, though Careen knew exactly what was wrong with her because mother had the exact same symptoms, when she was sick. Careen quickly came to Athena’s aid when she bumped her head, holding her tenderly by the shoulders, and slowly ushering her to the kitchen where there were chairs. Careen spoke, sounding a bit concerned even-though her true intentions could give a rat’s ass,“ Oh Ms. Knight, are you okay?” Careen felt her motherly side kicking in as she felt the demon’s forehead,” Well, this is rather mundane like for you, you are running a bit warm…” Still hanging onto Athena, Careen pulled out a chair so that Athena could have a sit if she wanted, though Careen made it obvious enough that she wanted the woman to seat as se released her hold from her. Careen said expectantly,” Im going to get you some tea, it should help with whatever is ailing you,” Careen sniffs the air," Do you need anything else?"

no one knows i lost my soul long ago athena had high hopes that even if cole meandered off, he'd return soon. after all, the pull on the house was quite great, ensuring he couldn't be gone for long. athena was a woman of great power and importance to lucifer so a mere halfbreed woman was hardly something to be feared. still, the demon preferred to keep encounters with careen ukraine as short as possible. the woman rubbed her the wrong way and while she couldn't pinpoint the source of her evil, she felt it within. much like herself, athena knew that not everyone with demon blood had the will to do harm or evil. this case, however, there was no exception to the case.
at times, athena found it difficult to hold her tongue around careen. she was generally a kind and soft spoken woman but certain things tended to fire her up. the sharp edges in the halfbreed's words were apparent, yet athena attempted to remain cool. she'd done a fair job thus far, though she wasn't sure how long she could keep the charade up for. while the affections for cole were present, that wasn't the driving factor in her decision to try to help him...despite his sister's thoughts otherwise. the reality was she didn't want him to feel as trapped as she had for her entire life. if she never had a chance to act upon her feelings for him, that would be just fine with her. in fact, she hadn't ever planned on taking that opportunity. after all, she'd be free from lucifer's deal if and only if the love she found was mutual. her poor self confidence convinced her easily that cole would never indeed return her favors.
athena was already mapping out the words in her head, to polite decline careen's words, but it appeared her mention of cole had shut the woman up. regardless, she wouldn't have eaten anyways. not only did she not need the nourishment, as an immortal being, but she couldn't imagine her cooking skills were any better than her tea-brewing skills. she managed to suck down a few cups of the tea out of politeness, though it tasted quite awful.
her gaze perked up at the mention of cole, brow furrowing as she began to feel ill. "where is he?" she questioned, perhaps a little too harshly. regardless, the abandoned the tone all together when she stumbled. feeling careen's embrace, she wanted nothing more than to shrug her off. however, her sudden dizzy spell meant she could neither exude the effort, nor afford to shrug off her help. she followed the guidance of the other woman, seating herself in the chair that was provide. sitting down she felt better, but still like something was utterly wrong with her. "i'll be fine. thank you, careen." she lied, forcing a feeble smile that would fool no one. she felt like shit, but admitting that to the woman opposite her was no an option.
the demon shook her head at the offer of tea, resting limping against the chair. "no, no tea for me. thank you. i appreciate the offer. i'm sure it'll pass." she tried to squeak out, though found herself hanging onto the edge of her chair to keep vertigo from overtaking her. "i...i don't know what's wrong with me. this has never happened before." she hadn't exactly meant to admit the little tidbit of information but she was too weak to keep her whits about her. "maybe cole can help..." she muttered against her better judgement. fun times template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Careen, Meeting, ATHENA KNIGHT lyrics @ Lana Del Rey. notes – words - 666
In the Land of Gods and Monsters I was an Angel
Careen turned from the stove with a stone face as Athena spoke her disdain for the tea, at least her not wanting any. Although, Careen would really like to know if the tea was working, if it was really causing Ms. Knight the effects that were occurring now because mother had the same troubles when drinking Careen’s tea. The only difference between mother and Ms. Knight was that she was older and a hellhound, where mother was just a simple demon more like a chaos demon. Careen doesn’t know whether the tea would really have any effect on hellhounds, but she was determined enough to find out anyway. The darkhaired twin watched the blonde carefully, especially how she was breathing and how she needed support from a chair to standup, which indicated that maybe the tea was working and all Careen needed to do was keep giving her the substance. Although, if the tea was working, she needed to know for sure, Careen needed to know from her that what she was feeling wasn’t something normal or to be expected, then Careen can move on with other ways to feed her the poison.
Killing her would be slow and painful, just like all the other women in Cole’s life as Careen has dispatched each one, and they all are cursing her name from the other side of the living. Careen would revel in the fact of killing Ms. Knight, though she was sure that Cole wouldn’t be too thrilled about it, but like all the rest he would have to move on. Ms. Knight was ruining everything, she was ruining her relationship with Cole, ruining her way of life, and ruining the chance of staying in the Ukraine Manor with her brother. Truthfully, Careen would not have any aversion to leaving the Ukraine Manor behind, but she would only leave if she was leaving with Cole, and for that to happy they would need the blood of a virgin, and not the help of a hellhound, at least not one Cole was interested in.
Careen turned on the pot for tea, regardless of what Ms. Knight had to say about because one way or another she was going to take the poison. “I believe this tea is what you need, it has herbal properties that help with aches and pains, so I am sure it will ease whatever suffering you are going through,” Careen had her back towards Athena, but she smiled a bit when she heard her confess the sudden dizzy spells were unusual and uncommon for her, which could only mean the poison was working. Careen turned away from the pot to walk towards Athena once again to place a cold hand on her forehand to feel the same warmth she felt before, signifying that the poison was indeed coursing through her at its earliest of stages. “The warmth hasn’t died down, I will get you a rag, doused in some water for you.” Careen quickly left out the kitchen, but did not forget to grab her keys as she walked out the room. A smile was spreading Careen’s lips as she walked through the halls to find a linen closet filled with rags and towels. The half-breed opened the door to grab a simple rag, before closing it back and entered the bathroom to run cold water on it, and squeezing it a bit so that it wouldn’t be too soaked, when she brought it back to Athena.
Careen left the bathroom and trailed through the halls to enter back into the kitchen with the now folded wet rag for Athena, she looked around the kitchen to see if everything was in order as she entered, though she was primarily tending to Athena to notice anything,” Here’s a rag, you should know to place it on your head, it should calm you away from receiving a fever, if it does persist, let me know.” Careen said softly, before going back to the stove.
