I'M INSANE WELL, I CAN FEEL IT IN MY BONES Coursing through my veins! W H E N D I D I B E C O M E S O C O L D ? FOR GOODNESS SAKE! It had been years since she had seen her dad, Adria, and Sam. She had thought to stay away. Keep her self in the institution, but it was the doctor's idea to get out and reconnect with the family. Maybe even patch things up between her and Adria. To be honest ruby was terrified to see Adria. She knew she hated her for how she treated Adria. Ruby had a mean streak and though she was a little big softie at heart she could play the bitch well, but her facade was failing. She wrapped her fingers around the envelopes addressed to Adria. Four years worth of letters. One or two might have been for their dad or brother, but the majority was for Adria. Her eyes stared out the plane's window as it slowly started its decent. She had to face her. She closed her eyes watching the plane fall from the sky. She quickly opened her eyes nearly crushing the stack of envelopes. Once reality set back in she looked around and sighed grabbing her bag from the under carry. “Ma'am you need to put that away. We're landing in five.” “i just need to take my meds.” ruby spoke. The lady rolled her eyes and looked away muttering something as she walked off. Ruby moved quickly grabbing her meds and took a few pills before looking out the window. She put the bottle back in her bag along with the envelopes. ------------------------------------ Ruby opened the door of the taxi cab and smiled lightly. She took a deep breath smiling at the driver as she paid him. “thanks.” she spoke and stepped away holding her back pack. She did not have much after all she did not need much. She looked around the neighborhood and then turned looking at the house. She took a deep breath looking at the address written on her hand and then at the house number. She moved to the door slowly and knocked. She quickly tucked her hair behind her ear and looked back behind her. She watched a woman across the street for a moment watching her. She should be used to others watching her but this one seemed a bit off. Ruby looked down and slowly turned back to the door wrapping her fingers around the nob and opened the door. Unlock? She pushed it open and stepped inside calling out. “Dad? Adi?! SAM!?!” she yelled as she closed the door behind her, locking the door. “HELLO?!” she yelled out once more looking around. The house was warm compared to the asylum. She looked around looking at the photos hanging on the walls. She moved over to a family photo taken when their mom was still a live. She looked away and then moved walking through the home. “i guess four years is a long time...” she muttered to her self as she looked at the different things. She paused for a moment and then sighed stopping in the kitchen. “HELLO!!!!!!” she nearly screamed.

In the time that her little sister had been away, she had been engaged and lost the one she loved. Her brother turned on her and hated her with a passion that could be described as fiery as the depths of hell. Her mother had been killed while trying to help a young werewolf. And her father, well it had only been a few months prior that her father had drunk himself to death. Of course, Adria wrote it all down and mailed it to wherever Ruby was, but that didn’t mean that the letters got to her. She had copies of them all, dated and everything, so by the off chance that Ruby came home, she would have to proof that she did try to write to her little sister to tell her about everything that had happened.
The house that she used to live in was all but empty at this point. Sam had moved out a while before their father passed away and Adria had her own place downtown, closer to work for her. She needed to be out of the house as it was, she wasn’t ready to be the leader and she had all but abandoned the coven that she once had. Her coven, her family, was broken and there was almost no way to fix it. Her sister, while Adria loved her to death, treated her horribly. Adria didn’t know what she even bothered trying to be close or nice with her sister, but she did know that she needed to try to fix the family that she once had.
Sitting at her desk at work, she got a buzz from her secretary that she had a phone call from an institution. Adria blinked, but of course answered it. She was confused as hell, especially when they explained that her sister was coming home and someone should be there to meet her at the old house. Thanking the woman on the other line, Adria hung up the phone and got up. She told her secretary that she would be gone for the afternoon. As quickly as she could, Adria found herself gathering up what little work she had left for an article and her laptop, shoving them quickly into her bag along with her planner before she ran out to her car and got in it. She drove a little faster than she probably should have to get back to that damn house. Adria hadn’t been in it since she had to watch her father slowly kill himself every day. It broke her and it hurt like hell when he finally let go.
Pulling into the driveway, Adria found herself actually a little nervous to be back at the house. Killing the engine, she felt her heart race. She wasn’t used to being back here, this house was only filled with bad memories. Memories of coming back here after her fiancée was killed, after her mother was killed. Adria sighed as she got out of the car and unlocked the door, going inside. It was empty. Quiet. Peaceful. She found herself walking through the house, opening the door to the back porch. God the view was beautiful. Overlooking a lake, just on the outskirts of the town. They were lucky enough to have been rich enough to afford a place like this. Adria wasn’t sure how long she was standing there before she heard her sister, at least she assumed it was her sister, calling out for someone.
“Ruby?” Adria asked as she came back into the house. It was her, her little sister. She hadn’t seen her in years. Adria sort of felt like she was talking to a stranger. Adria kept a few feet between the two of them as she looked at her, “It’s been a while… you… you look good.”

I'M INSANE WELL, I CAN FEEL IT IN MY BONES Coursing through my veins! W H E N D I D I B E C O M E S O C O L D ? FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Ruby sighed she could not even begin to tell her self why she felt she deserved to be greeted with open arms. In all honestly she did not. She deserved so much worse after abandoning everyone the way she did. But she could not deal with the visions. The medications helped. She rubbed her arms feeling the raised scaring from her multiple attempts. Though one was not her fault. She had been attacked by another patient. She sighed once again looking down. Her eyes finally catching the layers of dust. Her finger slowly ran along the counter before pulling away to look at it. It looked like months of build up. She looked up seeing the back door open and called out once more. “Hello?!” she nearly yelled in frustration. Ruby's heart sank as she watched Adria walk in. she knew she would have to face her eventually but this was way too soon. She did not have time to prepare. Prepare? Prepare for what? She started to panic. Oh shit! What now? What do I do? She hesitated looking at Adria as she spoke. Man she still hates me. “i do?” well of course that was common curtsy. Oh she was so out of practice when it came to interacting with other people. She looked down scratching the back of her head. “thanks I mean.” she spoke looking at the floor before looking back at Adria. “you look well too.” she finally spat out not meaning to make it sound so raw. She sighed heavily trying to calm her self. She was far too nevus for any of this. “i'm highly medicated.” she spoke looking at her shoes. That was the one thing she would tell people right off so they would not think something horribly of her. Most just accepted it and moved on, except the flight attendant, who just glared and thought what she wanted. Before the statement could take affect ruby started on about the house. “it's rather dusty in here. What happened did you and sam run out of feathers?” she tried to joke knowing it was not going to be taken that way. She looked at her sister and huffed internally. “i'm sorry.” she let it out unable to keep the hard ass facade up. Ruby cared for what Adria thought of her as she cared for what sam thought too but a part of her just could not let them get close. She looked around once more and then back at Adria. “where is sam and dad?”

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -DEAR SISTER PLEASE DON'T BLAME ME,I ONLY DID WHAT I THOUGHT WAS TRULY RIGHT;- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -As far as life went, Adria could probably say that she was finally happy. Not much was really bringing her down lately. She had sort of blocked out the fact that her brother all but disowned her and the fact that she was an orphan. She had blocked out the fact that she was truly alone and didn’t have many people she could lean on anymore. She had Lucien and she was happy. Happiness in her world was a very short lived feeling though. It was almost like the world didn’t want her to be happy, that she wasn’t allowed to feel anything more than what she was used to. Adria was so used to feeling like no one gave a crap about her, like she was a failure. Everything in her life was going in a different direction, that was until she was faced with the sister who she thought was estranged.
“You do,” she smiled a bit as she looked over at the almost spitting image of her younger self. She looked over Ruby, “You’re very welcome.” She smiled a bit as she held the bundle of letters in her hands. She had tried to contact Ruby time after time and nothing had happened. Places she had phones declined her call, she often had letters sent back to her. Adria felt awful. She didn’t know what to do about it either. She had no choice in what had happened, and she did her damn best to get news to Ruby. In her letters, she had told her about her fiancée, about Sam leaving and about their father’s death. It was all things that she wanted to have had the courage to tell her sister in person. Adria didn’t think that Ruby actually wanted to see her, which was why she thought that the letters kept being marked ‘return to sender.’
“I know,” she said as she looked down at the floor. Well, she didn’t fully know, but what she did know from the phone call that she had with a doctor told her what to expect. There were days where Adria wondered if she needed to check herself into an institution and if it hadn’t been for Lucien, then she may have done just that. “I mean I don’t fully know, but the man who I spoke to told me what to expect.” Adria softly chewed on her lip.
“Nah, we ran out of chickens to take feathers from.” God her joke was awful. Adria sort of felt her heart sink a bit when she heard Ruby ask where their brother and father were. Clearly that meant that the letters never made it to her, and it wasn’t like she ever picked up the phone to answer her sister’s calls either. Adria had tried countless times to pass on information to Ruby, “Sam… he left.” She bit he lip a bit as she looked down, feeling overly guilty. She blamed herself for her brother leaving, “After what happened to mom… he blamed me and he hated me. He left and I haven’t heard from him in over a year.” She set the letters on the counter.
Licking her bottom lip, she found the strength to look up at her sister, “Dad died. He drank himself to death. I didn’t know he was doing it, or I would have stopped him.” It didn’t feel real, telling her sister this. “I tried to contact you, to find you. The letters kept coming back to me, the phone calls would just drop if I tried to talk to you. I wanted you to know all of this…”
