WE ARE TO RECEIVE THE DUE REWARD OF OUR DEEDS
The sound of water filled the air; hands moved scrubbing a pan that was used to make the dinner that Elisa was currently still eating. The five-year-old silently laughed as she ate her food, Carrie’s phone seated before her allowing her to watch a random video that she found Elisa loved. Carrie smiled, Elisa was the best thing that could have happened to her, of course, after meeting Dax that is. Elisa was a precious little child, a little girl that was too smart for her good. Another sound of laughter had Carrie turning around and wiping off her wet hands with a dish towel as she moved towards the young child seated at the kitchen table of their little apartment. “And what are you laughing at that is keeping you away from your green beans?” she asked the young girl with a smile on her face. Crouching down beside the child, she peered over the table and looked at the screen. Cat videos, of course.
“Come on, you have homework to do, and your father is stopping by tonight.” she said as she slowly rose to her full height. She was usually someone that wore heels, but in the home, she felt smaller than usually because of her need to be barefoot. Elisa was like her in that respect; maybe it was because she had the guest take off their shoes at the door, as long as they were comfortable, or maybe it was just because Elisa was so much like her mother. Running her fingers through the child’s soft curls, she smiled at the fact that Elisa was so much like both of her parents. Stubborn just like Carrie was and had a sense of humor much like her father, just not as extreme. God she hoped Elisa wouldn’t be as extreme as her father.
Pulled from her thoughts as quickly as they came, her attention was turned to the groan of her daughter as the cat video was cut short by a text message coming through. “Sorry baby.” she whispered as she took her phone and opened the message. It was her agent, wanting to know if any more books were coming her way or if she was done for good. Sighing, she quickly closed out the message and put the phone in her pocket. Her daughter, much to her amusement, cried out as if she had her pet rat taken away, not that she had one. Oh god, if Elisa came home with a rat and wanted it as a pet, Carrie would freak out. But no, she was thankful that all Elisa had cried for was a little cat, something that Carrie quickly bought for her. A cat by the name of Penny, mostly because her coat color reminded little Elisa of a penny.
“Finish your food so you can get your homework done. If it isn’t done, I’ll send your father away.” she said jokingly as her daughter pouted and quickly started stuffing her face. Carrie would never send Dax away, and while she still loved the man, she separated from him for her daughter’s protection. Carrie didn’t care about her, didn’t care if she got hurt, as long as her daughter wasn’t touched in the crossfire.
Carrie’s attention snapped towards the door as someone knocked, and quickly she placed the towel down on the kitchen table and made her way towards it. Peeking through the peephole, she smiled to herself as she opened it, revealing the man on the other side.
“It’s good to see you, Dax.”

Can I just say, I already love the relationship between Carrie and Elisa, and as I wrote this I grew even more inlove. Anyways, hope this works as a random thread to get these two started!
