She didn’t think that it was possible to stay faithful for as long as she had, but she did. Thousands of years she spent alone, especially after her children went off on their own. Thousands of years she wondered how she would go on, wondered what it would be like if only for a moment she could be in Chaol’s arms. To be a family again for more than a few years. She was supposed to have a lifetime with him and it was reduced to only a few years. A few wonderful years where she was able to hold a child that she never thought she would have delivered, and then to have two more on top of that.
Not a day had gone by where Celeste hadn’t tried to bring him back, but every time she would fail. Time and time again, she would collapse from the power it took, she would find herself coughing blood up. As powerful as she was, she feared that if she tried any harder that she would hurt herself. Celeste knew that this wasn’t just necromancy she was dealing with, this was reuniting a soul with its body. Something that dabbled in dealing with very dark magic. This was the sort of satanic magic that turned her into what she was. It was the sort of magic that took away her ability to be a mortal, to die a mortal death. There were so many times after she had lost her first child that she tried to end her life, but no matter what she did nothing seemed to happen.
Thinking back, Celeste was happy she was never able to end her life. She would have missed too much, then again she wouldn’t have met Chaol and she wouldn’t know the pain that she did know. She wouldn’t be widowed for all intents and purposes. She would be with someone she loved, someone to hold her tight when she had to witness a horrible death. Like she had that morning. Celeste had witnessed a death of a five year old girl who was brutally murdered in a gang related shooting. It was enough for her to need to catch her breath, to slow her heart back to normal. She needed to distract herself from the horror she saw, which was what brought her to the basement of the Blackwood Estate. She let her hand rest on the coffin where Chaol’s body was, enchanted of course. She bit her lip softly as she looked at it and carefully opened it. His body was preserved with an enchantment, in case she ever reunited body and soul. Her fingers brushed his cheek softly, “You’ll come back to me one day. I promse my love. My sun and stars,” her voice was soft as she looked at the man who she once loved.
Lighting the candles, she set the crystal in the middle of them and opened her book, softly chanting a new spell after she let her blood drip onto the crystal. She could feel the power of the spell course through her veins as she felt the spirits around her trying to help where they could. Crimson liquid ran from her nose, dripping onto the table. A breeze blew through the basement, blowing out the candles. Celeste gasped as she felt the magic end abruptly and to her disappointment, Chaol’s soul was still trapped. A usually levelled headed woman, she let out a scream of anger as she all but threw the candles against the wall. Weakened, she collapsed to her knees, trying to stop herself from hyperventilating, tears of anger forming in her eyes.

DARLING I'M A NIGHTMARE, DRESSED LIKE A DAYDREAM Over three thousand years of living and yet Colette still felt as if she had just ventured out into the world, and in a way she had. She had stayed with her mother, a Wiccan among the Grand Coven, for quite some time during her immortal and eternal life. Only leaving to venture into the world and taste the riches each century and location had to offer the young girl. And of course, with each year, a new adventure rose from the ashes of her past, especially when she fell in love and bore a daughter in the dead man’s name. But through those years on her own, only her daughter by her side, she continued to create spells to help not only everyone but also help her mother bring her father back, to reunite his soul with his body which stayed close by Celeste being. Colette made a habit of returning home with a new spell each decade, and each would fail. Maybe that was why Colette stayed away longer, this time, residing somewhere far away from San Francisco where she picked up teaching regular mortal children in mundane subjects. Colette loved children, but her daughter was the only child that she brought into the world so far, and she didn’t mind. Teaching at an elementary school was enough children to last Colette another lifetime.
But now, with a few new spells gracefully written within her little black book of spells, she decided it was time to return home. Perhaps for good? She wasn’t sure yet, but there was always a chance, especially with the job offer at the local elementary school that was confidentially located a little way down from the home of the Blackwood’s, her family. But who knew, Colette liked her current home, but she knew that sooner or later it would be time to move on. Women that don’t age cause suspicion, something she learned first-hand when she first became a teacher.
That was why, with her many things packed up and her door locked and sealed, she made her way to San Francisco. She, of course, would keep the home that she lived in ever few centuries still locked away, but for now, it would go unused and unseen by the prying eye. And it wasn’t long, maybe a few hours, before the plane finally landed in San Francisco that she made her way home. Or rather, another home located on another part of a giant map.
The Blackwood Home was elegant and showed off the style and grandeur that the Grand Coven liked to relish in. Colette, loving the simpler things in life, had never been on to fancy the home much, and that was probably because she did not like the luxurious and elegant lifestyle. She liked the sweet little cottages in the woods, the places that were far from the beaten path. The homes right from the pages of twisted fairytales, minus the evil witches dwelling within them. Shaking her head from all thoughts, she quickly handed some bills to the cab driver and pulled her purse and single bag from within. Luckily for her, she had planned for her luggage to be brought from her house and sent to the home, though she probably beat it all here.
Colette, because of her visits to the home quite frequently, had her little bedroom within the home and quickly made her way there, only to drop off her things before she went looking for her mother. Without a single glance at the room, she disappeared from the room and went looking. Of course, as soon as Colette found her mother’s room empty, a part of her knew where the woman was. With her father, the second place that she dwelled whenever in the home.
It wasn’t long before the sounds of a defeated woman came from the depths of the basement and Colette was quick into action, moving at a fast pace, she made it to the room just to watch her mother collapse to her knees, and quickly she was at the older woman’s side. “Mother, you must not overwork yourself.” she breathed with worry and concern evident in her voice. This was not the best form of reunion, but beggars can’t be choosers. Let's get this party started! Let me know if anything needs to be changed! template by Margie @ Adoxography v2
