AND THE VISION THAT WAS PLANTED IN MY BRAIN,
STILL REMAINS WITHIN THE SOUND OF SILENCE;

Life seemed normal, for once it seemed normal and it seemed okay. For once, Adria found herself enjoying waking up in the morning. It may not have been the same way for Lucien, but she tried to not dwell on the fact that he seemed to think that she couldn’t and shouldn’t have loved him. She knew what she wanted and she knew who she wanted. Adria hadn’t felt more loved or more protected than she did when she was with Lucien. Of course, she knew what wiccans thought of her being in love with a vampire. None of them agreed with her, none of them saw what she did in him. None of them wanted to see that maybe a vampire could be a good person, that maybe they wouldn’t be a monster. She hated it, she wanted nothing more than to be able to love who she chose. Not someone that would have appeased them, made them happy.
Happiness was always short lived in Adria’s life. That was just how it always was for her. She wasn’t ever allowed to be happy for more than a few moments at a time it seemed. This brief moment of happiness was one that she would wish she could relive over and over again. She wanted to be able to lie in that king sized bed of Lucien’s and not have a care in the world, but alas, work seemed to always call her. Well, that was part of being a photographer. If someone couldn’t make one job, then they’d call Adria or she would call someone else if she couldn’t do it. She loved her job, she was able to be there for people on their biggest day or she was able to meet tiny new babies. Would she ever be able to have children? Would she ever have that happy and big day? These were questions that lingered in her mind often when she would lie awake at night next to the man she was in love with.
As she walked to the office late after a shoot, Adria was exhausted. She unlocked the door to the offices and went inside, locking it behind her. Unknown to Adria, a vampire that Lucien had pissed off had snuck into the office when she did. She tried to live a mortal life, even though she was far from mortal. She had her headphones in, jamming out to a couple of new songs as she sat down. Well, she was jamming out as much as one could to Adele. She even found herself singing along softly as she put new photos on her computer before she started going them and picking out the ones she would edit quickly so that she could get them out to the various people for their portfolios and for her own webpage.
Adria bit her lip as she continued to edit the photos. Time passed and she found herself growing rather bored before she decided to call it a night. Saving her work, she tucked her laptop into her bag before she grabbed her camera and phone and heading out for the night. Without a care in the world, Adria walked to her car as she unlocked it. She opened the back door of the car to set her bag in it. That was when she was grabbed.
A hand went over her mouth as she struggled and fought against the man who had her. It was then that she realized a vampire had her tightly. Trying to focus, she used a headache curse to get him off of her. It worked and for a moment she thought that she was going to get away, that was before the vampire who fed her blood showed up. He was the definition of tall, dark and handsome, but he was also terrifying. His eyes dark, his fangs showing and worst of all, he was ready to kill. Adria screamed, well she tried to anyways. The vampire behind her covered her mouth again. As the tall dark one came closer, she felt her heart race and she knew that death was near. She was scared and that was an understatement.
“What do you want from me?” she asked as calmly as she could. The vampire simply grinned at her.
“It’s simple, I want to fuck up your life.” And with that, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her, over and over again. He didn’t want to turn her, he didn’t want to kill her just yet. He wanted Lucien to be the one to find her. The vampire reached into his pocket and pulled her phone out, calling Lucien. “You shouldn’t have come after my girl, because I went after yours.” He said before he hung up, dropping the phone and looming down over her, grabbing her and forcing her to look at him, “Lucien Valentine, he was your boyfriend. I want you to forget that you ever met him.” He narrowed his eyes and dropped her, her head hitting the cement.
“I…” Adria was gurgling, blood coming from her mouth as she tried to cover her wounds up. She was almost certain a lung had been punctured. Adria was gasping for breath, she was trying to breathe. She felt dizzy and light headed. She felt weak and she was holding on for dear life. Tears rolled down her face before she closed her eyes. Adria wanted to let go. She could remember telling her father it was okay if he wanted to let go. It was okay, she told herself, it’s okay to let go. Adria stopped trying to cover the wounds, she knew that death was near.
With shallow breaths, Adria forced her eyes open again. She wanted to find the will to live, but it was gone. She felt nothing, she felt numb. A small cough escaped her lips as blood came out of her mouth, dripping down her chin. She was failing at keeping her eyes open, she was failing at holding on.
And with that, she let the darkness of the unconscious realm consume her.
