it's hard to find life
in something that's already dead
in something that's already dead
a small outburst stretched into a battle, a fight for power. kate wasn't normally one to be so upfront and confrontationa, at least, not before lorenzo. despite what most would think, the girl had been lacking confidence before her transformation. her entire world revolved around her family, making them all proud. still, there was no excusing the tiny shred of uselessness. to the public eye, katherine was the picture of grace and satisfaction, beauty enhanced by the vampire curse. most of her life had been sheltered, the supernatural world hidden behind a wall of lies. they were trying to protect her, to keep their precious sister and daughter safe from harm. in reality, katherine could have spent that time training alongside her brothers. why didn't her father trust her with such an important secret? did he not think that she could handle becoming a hunter? katherine was a strong individual, far more than she gave herself credit for. still, it seemed that it wasn't enough. now, after one little mistake, her father wanted nothing to do with her. the girl had been cast out, abandoned by the man that was supposed to love her unconditionally. maybe becoming a hunter wasn't so great after all... not if it meant turning your back on someone you claimed to love.
with a burning sting in her cheek, katherine pushed her way out of the crowded house, caring little about the members lingering. they never stopped kate from leaving, the girl always came back. despite having turned her into a vampire and sparking the situation she was now in, they were family. in some twisted way, they were all a family. besides, it wasn't exactly a seldom occurrence for a fight to break out between herself and lorenzo, though she did often try to hold her tongue while in the man's presence. she didn't do it for her own safety, but for angelo's. god-forbid his brother would take that anger out on him... katherine was lucky that angel had been absent during the little dispute she had with his older brother, there's no saying what he would have done. for the most part, he was good at concealing the rage. but kate knew better, she could see the anger behind his bright eyes. he was a puppet, blinded by the false love of a family member. lorenzo had basically tossed katherine to angelo not long ago, more or less stating that his little brother could have his way with the girl. they could share her, but she would always belong to lorenzo, that much he made clear. still, despite the temptation, angel never did lay a hand on the girl. his reputation may have fooled those around him, but not kat. angel was a good person, one that she was finding herself falling for.
in such a state of anger and distress, the female found herself wandering through san francisco, trekking deeper into the woods. once her blurred senses began to clear, katherine realized that she was inevitably lost. what way had she come from? turning on her heels, the female studied the area, eyes soaking up the never-ending swarm of trees. well, that was just perfect. how the hell was she supposed to find her way back home now? she would really get it this time. turning slightly, kate all but froze in place. a distinct shot fired off from the distance, rusing up from the darkness. in reality, it shouldn't have scared the girl. she was a vampire, a powerful being that could knock down most species. so, why was she so afraid? she was a big girl, fully capable of protecting herself, even from hunters... she didn't need anyone... still, the fear remained. breaking free from her previously frozen state, kate began running in the opposite direction. without paying any attention to her path, a broken log caught her off guard, sending her body tumbling to the ground. tears streaked her porcelain cheeks, crawling on both hands and knees in order to escape. the fear wasn't for herself... she just didn't want to hurt anyone, not even those sent to kill her kind.
