i am the doll you created
i am your sinner, i am your whore
i am your sinner, i am your whore
camren was so dead inside that she barely noticed the groups of men, and even one woman, who had lined up at the stage in front of her. as she danced around, going through the motions of taking her clothing off, she simply looked up above their heads. the back of the bar had become a point of interest to her, something to stare at as she danced for her three minutes. the crowd seemed unusually large for a newbie but it was that very fact which had drawn people to see her. she was the fresh meat in town, a cute little quiet women who's moves certaily told a story. she was no amateur, that much was clear, but just because she was good at her job didn't mean she enjoyed it. her face was painted and the smiles and seductive moves came naturally - she was a great actress. inside, she was ready to fall apart. she wasn't embarrassed or even bothered by what she was doing. her dignity had left her long ago. after all, this was better than the prostitution...even better than the porn. what made her sick was the worry for her safety.
though she hadn't had solid confirmation, cam was sure wes and his crew still called san francisco home. aside from the fact she knew nothing else, she'd returned here so she could find out how to get leah back. that was all she wanted, though she hadn't exactly figured out how. if she attempted to take the man to family court, it would alert he and his gang that she was back in town. she wasn't quite ready for that yet...not until she developed a solid plan. a fear had been instilled within her since the moment she was released. paranoia had set in and half of her expected her gaze to fall upon a familiar face in the ground, one she wasn't willing to see. she loved wesley, even after everything, even after she figured she was on his hit list. but she was also terrified of him. he was a good man at heart but he and his group also believed in retribution. they thought her a rat. rats never survived.
"let's give a hand for our newest gal, roxy! she'll be wandering around so if you want a dance, make sure to snag her." her boss announced as the music ended, camren scrambling to grab her robe before leaving the stage. without thinking she beelined it for the backroom, trying to keep her hands steady which began to shake. a smoke, that was what she needed to calm her nerves. it was an ugly habit, but one that had gotten her through her stress lately. she'd been halfway out the backdoor when her boss snagged her. "you don't got a break for another three hours, toots. you're a real hot item tonight, can't have ya disappearing on me." cam knew how these guys worked. likely, he'd drag her back i if she tried to resist. still, she attempted to plead with him regardless. "please, just one quick smoke? i promise it'll be quick...just need to calm my nerves. its been a while since i've done something like that." to her surprise, he released her, giving her a nod and a stern warning to hurry up. for a strip club owner, he wasn't as much of a sleaze as cam thought he was going to be. lucky her.
one moment of reprieve. that's all she had before she had to dance across the laps of a bunch of disgusting men. ugh. camren held the cigarette to her lips, flicking the lighter a few times in order to get the flame going. instead, she found her hand was a little too shaky for the task and it slipped away from her fingers, falling into the storm grate. "fuck." she muttered, finally sinking down against the wall of the alley, resting her head in her knees. she would have said karma was a bitch but honestly, she couldn't figure out what she'd done to deserve all this...
